Why trust this test more than MetaTrader's own tester?
On this page
MetaTrader 5 can hold back a forward period and test on real ticks, and it runs your actual robot. What it leaves to you is the judging.
Forge counts how many settings you tried and marks the result down for it, checks the result across many splits of history, and gives one verdict.
What MetaTrader's tester does#
The Strategy Tester tests and optimizes Expert Advisors before live trading: a test runs the Expert Advisor once on history data, and an optimization runs it many times with different parameters. Source, read 13 October 2026
What Oathra does differently#
Oathra tests a robot's rules, not its file. It does not run .ex4 or .ex5 files.
So the two are not the same test. MetaTrader runs the robot's own file. Forge runs the rules you entered, and judges the result.
The checks behind the verdict#
- Cost check Does it still win after spread and commission?
- Sample check Does the test have enough trades to judge?
- Hold-out Does it hold on price history it was never tuned on?
- K-fold How often it survived across many slices of the same history.
- Walk-forward How often it survived when it was always tested into the future.
- Chance this is luck The odds that the winner you picked was luck.
- Deflated Sharpe The Sharpe ratio, with the credit for trying repeatedly taken back off.
