  • The limit that applies

An alert can do more than tell you. On the paid plan it can close positions, or move their stop loss or take profit, when the threshold you set is crossed.

On the paid plan Guardian can close positions when a limit is crossed, if you switch that on. By default it closes only positions opened through Oathra, so a robot's own trades stay open. It closes a robot's trades only if you allow it to close every open position on the account.

A robot's own trades are closed only if you allow Guardian to close every open position on the account. Guardian never stops a robot from opening new trades.

An action reaches only the positions Oathra opened on the account. Trades you opened by hand or through another program stay as they are, unless you let the alert reach every position on that account when you set it up. An alert never stops you from trading: it tells you, and it acts on positions.

Auto-execute actions modify real positions on your live trading account. Test your configuration carefully before relying on it. Make sure you understand exactly what each action does before enabling it.

Close Trades#

When an alert triggers, the system can automatically close trades on the affected account. There are four closing options:

  • Close All: Closes every open position the alert reaches, immediately. This is the nuclear option. Use it when you need to flatten the account completely, such as when a drawdown limit is about to be breached.
  • Close by Symbol: Closes all positions on a specific pair. For example, if your alert fires and you have three GBPJPY positions open, this closes all three while leaving other pairs untouched.
  • Close Profitable: Closes only the positions that are currently in profit. This locks in gains while leaving losing positions open for a potential recovery. Use with caution since this can leave you with only losers.
  • Close Losing: Closes only the positions that are currently at a loss. This cuts your losses while letting your winners continue to run. This is often the more practical choice when you need to reduce risk quickly.

Modify Positions#

Instead of closing trades, the system can modify stop loss or take profit levels on your open positions. This is less aggressive than closing and gives your trades room to play out with tighter risk controls.

  • Move SL to Break-Even: Sets the stop loss on all open positions to their entry price. This eliminates risk on those trades without closing them. If the market reverses, you exit at zero rather than a loss.
  • Move SL to Price: Sets the stop loss on all positions to a specific price you define. You can optionally set a price condition so this only applies to positions above or below a certain price.
  • Move TP to Price: Sets the take profit on all positions to a specific price. This is useful when an alert fires and you want to lock in a smaller gain rather than holding for the original target.

Modify actions are sent as commands to the EA on your MetaTrader terminal. The EA processes them on its next sync cycle, typically within 30 seconds.

Stop trading#

On the paid plan, Stop trading refuses new orders placed through Oathra.

The limit that applies#

Guardian does not stop a robot. A robot on your MetaTrader keeps running and can open new trades until you remove it from its chart.
